5th Convocation Ceremony of FDDI, Kolkata Campus held

FDDI, Kolkata campus held its 5th Convocation ceremony on 04th December 2023 at its premise.

The event was graced by Chief Guest, Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose, the Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal.

Mr. Pankaj Kumar Sinha - Managing Director, FDDI, Mr. Sunilkumar U.- Executive Director, FDDI-Kolkata, faculty members, staff, students and prominent industrial personalities attended the landmark ceremony. He also presented the “Academic Report” of FDDI Kolkata to the Hon’ble Governor.

The Convocation Ceremony began with the National Anthem followed by lighting-up of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest along with other dignitaries was recited in the presence of an audience comprised of the Graduating batch, the entire student, faculty members, staff and distinguished industry personalities.

The Passing Out Oath was administered by ED Kolkata to the passing out students. Marking the successful completion of the young graduates, a total of 122 students were honoured during the ceremony out of which 46 were from School of Fashion Design (FD), 37 were from School of Leather Goods and Accessories Design (LGAD) and 39 students were from School of Footwear Design and Production (FDP).

The overall topper of the Class of 2023, Ms. Anushka Banerjee was awarded the Gold medal, while Ms. Anushka Banerjee, Ms. Anchita Ghosh and Ms. Ritu Gupta received silver medals earning the title of departmental toppers for their exceptional performance.”

As announced by Chandra Chemicals (an unit of P.C Chandra Group), an scholarship of Rs. 30,000 for the gold medallist and Rs. 25,000 each for the silver medallists was provided. Mr. Amitabh Chandra, Director Chandra Chemicals alongwith the Hon’ble Governor, MD FDDI gave away the scholarships.

The Chief Guest, Dr. C V Ananda Bose, in his heartfelt message, extended warm congratulations to the graduating students and expressed his best wishes for their bright careers ahead. He emphasized the transformative journey awaiting the students as they step into the industry, joining the esteemed ranks of FDDI alumni who have left an indelible mark.

A significant aspect of The Honourable Governor's address highlighted the importance of the Make in India initiative. Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose emphasized how the students, equipped with their design skills and innovative ideas, could contribute to the nation's manufacturing sector. He urged them to carry forward the spirit of Make in India, fostering indigenous production and innovation.

The Hon’ble Governor declared the giving of the Coveted ‘Governor’s Scroll’ to the Gold medallist and Silver medallists during the Convocation Ceremony. To recognize and motivate exceptional academic achievements, the Hon’ble Governor announced cash prizes worth Rs. 35,555 for the gold medallist and Rs. 25,555 each for the silver medallists.

The program concluded with the “Vote of Thanks”.
