With the objective to make the students aware about the various activities related to printing, embroidery followed by garment production cycle, and the roles of textile workers, the students of FDDI, Noida campus visited CGS Apparel Private Limited on August 26, 2023.
CGS Apparel Private Limited is a leading Private Limited Indian Non-Government Company incorporated in India on 16th July 1999. Located at Hosiery Complex, Noida, Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, the company is involved in manufacture of wearing apparel, knitting, production etc.
Mr. Bharat and Mrs. Khushbu, experts of the company briefed about the apparel industry. The students were taken to visit each and every department from Planning to Shipment that is “CUT – TO – PACK” including sampling, costing, knitting, cutting, production planning, sourcing of raw material and production pattern making, fabric cutting, printing, embroidery, sewing, thread trimming, washing, ironing, store department, folding and packing are the production functions.
As per the buyer requirements the development stages of samples are named as Proto sample, Fit sample, Size set sample, Sales man sample, production sample, Top of production (TOP) sample and shipment sample were explained in detail. They were also briefed about CAD/CAM which enables the designer, pattern maker, marker and grader to do their jobs precisely and effectively.
It was a beneficial visit for the students as they interacted with the departmental heads and gained practical knowledge about garment production right from the fabric to finished product and steps of quality checks.
