‘Industrial Exposure’ for FDDI, Rohtak students at Grasim Bhiwani Textiles Ltd. (GBTL)

To provide an in-depth insight about spinning, weaving, processing and dyeing of textiles, the students of Fashion Design and Foundation batch of FDDI, Rohtak campus, under the ‘Industrial Exposure’, visited Grasim Bhiwani Textiles Ltd., (GBTL) on 14th September 2023.

The mill erstwhile known as “Punjab Cotton Mills”, established in 1938, was taken over by Grasim Industries Ltd. in 1964 and renamed as Bhiwani Textiles Limited. Bhiwani Textiles Mills, which was the textile division of Grasim Industries Ltd., became a subsidiary company from 1st October 2007 onwards with a name of Grasim Bhiwani Textiles Limited (GBTL) having its registered office in Mumbai.

Under the supervision of the highly experienced faculty of FDDI, the students of FDDI learned about how yarn is manufactured practically by different machines, dyeing process, laboratory testing, carding, drawing, fabric processing (Scouring, mending, rapier loom) packing, warehousing etc.

The visit was very informative as it provided an opportunity to the students to see the internal working environment of textile mill, as well as useful information related to the practical aspects of the spinning, weaving and dyeing which cannot be visualized in lectures.
