Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI), Rohtak organized an awareness march-cum-street play on 1st December 2017 on the occasion of World AIDS Day.
The purpose of the programme was to raise awareness about AIDS and the global spread of the HIV virus.
FDDI Rohtak’s staff and students participated in the march, holding banners and posters from ‘Rajeev Chowk to Mansarover Park’. FDDI students also organized street play at Agro Mall & Mansarover Park.
A view of the awareness march
AIDS is not simply a health problem but, with it come social repercussions which cause the victim to be stigmatized in the society, which is unfair, and hence, as an Institute, it becomes our moral responsibility to boost awareness, increase participation, combat stigma, improve education and kick-start prevention strategies.
It was a clarion call to the society, where the staff and students enhanced the awareness in combating the causes of AIDS pandemics and its deadly result through their performance and slogans.
The first World AIDS Day was held in 1988 after health ministers around the world met in London, England and agreed on observing such day as a way of highlighting the enormity of the AIDS pandemic.
The students clearly gave the message that it is the opportunity for young people to work actively and collaboratively with partners and other stakeholders around the world to raise awareness about HIV and help each other in progressing closer to the universal goal of an AIDS-free generation.
The event was sponsored by ICICI Bank, Rohtak.
