FDDI conducts Technology based Entrepreneurship Development Program (TEDP)

A six weeks Technology Based Entrepreneurship Development Program sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) for the year 2006-2007 was inaugurated on November 6th ' 2006 by Mr. Shashi Bhushan Shukla, IRS, Secretary FDDI. Dr. M.M. P. Akhouri, former Executive Director, National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), Mr. Vinesh Chhabra, Director (SI & SBM), NIESBUD and Mr. Sunil Taneja also from NIESBUD were also present. Mr. Vijay Nayyar, Executive Director of Tryshoera India Pvt. Ltd., graced the occasion as chief guest and shared his views and experience of his long industrial voyage with the participants.
When contacted, Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI, said, “The objective of the course is to groom, develop & motivate budding entrepreneurs in industry specific areas of footwear and component industries.”

A total of twenty-three budding entrepreneurs in the age group 18 to 35 are taking part in the programme which is conducted at FDDI's premises & the timings are from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm on week days and from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm on Saturdays.
According to Mr. Shashi Bhushan Shukla, IRS, Secretary, FDDI, “The program deals with training on essentials of the entrepreneurship survey of the prevalent socio-economic scenario and identifications of business opportunities.”

The 1st ISF-IFCOMA Buyers Sellers Meet cum Exhibition of Footwear Components was jointly organized by the Indian Shoe Federation (ISF) & Indian Footwear Components Manufacturers Association (IFCOMA) at Raja Muthaiya Hall, Egmore, Chennai on 4th & 5th November, 2006.
On this occasion, the President of ISF Mr. P.R. Aqeel Ahmed, K. Elangovan, Executive Director of the Council of Leather Export (CLE), Mr. M. Rafeeque Ahmed, Chairman CLE & Mr. Mani Almal, President, IFCOMA were present.
FDDI also participated in this BSM and displayed its publications and informed about its laboratory services, training programmes and consultancy services through brochure and one-to-one meeting. On behalf of FDDI, Mr. Chandan Kumar, Mr. Habib & Mr. Samiullah from Chennai office & Mr. Shailender Saxena from FDDI, Noida were present at the stall. FDDI got good response from visitors.

On this occasion Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI, said, “The primary objective of this exhibition was to create a direct link between manufacturers of components and footwear manufacturers.”
Mr. Ramesh Subramaniam of TATA International, Mr. Akeel Ahmad of Florence Shoes, Mr Rohit Negi from Peter Black Footwear Accessories Ltd., Apache & Paulo from Palasio were the prominent that showed interest in the services of FDDI.
According to Mr. Shashi Bhushan Shukla, IRS, Secretary, FDDI, “ The BSM was one of the ideal platforms where all persons of footwear & footwear components trade gathered at one point, thus providing an opportunity to enhance the business prospect for FDDI.”
A total of 72 footwear components manufacturers from all over India and one from Brazil participated in this exhibition.
