Centre for Retail of FDDI organizes ‘Ad-Mad Show’

‘Ad-Mad Show’ was organized by the Centre for Retail of Footwear Design & Development Institute on 17 th November 2006 at the amphitheatre. Retail department has launched a unique concept in FDDI by formulizing the Clubs and committees in the various areas of Retail Management. The objective of the event was to sharpen the student’s skill sets in the various areas of management so that they can deal any situation with alacrity.
It was the first event organized by Centre for Retail - FDDI. The theme of the show was "Baby" and the students of the various departments formed groups of 5-8 students and advertised various baby products like Baby Cream, Baby Lotion, Stroller, Baby Bib, Baby Diapers, Baby Oil, Baby Soap, Baby Shampoo etc.

The event was judged by Mr. Ahijit Dutta (General Manager, Media Marketing-Hindustan Times), Mr. Sachin Gupta (Chairman & Managing Director-Bodycare), Mr. Vikas Sharma (President, Horizons) and Mr. Abhijeet Ganguly (Vice President, Max New York).

On this occasion, Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI, said, “Retailing in India is gradually inching its way toward becoming the next boom industry & the students needs to get themselves prepared to meet any situation.” He also emphasized the importance of brand building of institutes and shared that in last one and a half year the brand of FDDI has make its mark and in times to come Centre for Retail will certainly add more feathers in its cap.
He further said that the opportunity in this sector is huge—by 2010, organized retail is expected to grow to US$ 22 billion. With the growth of organized retailing estimated at 40 per cent (CAGR) over the next few years, Indian retailing is clearly at a tipping point providing vast career opportunities to the students.
According to Mr. Shashi Bhushan Shukla, IRS, Secretary, FDDI, “Retail has emerged as one of the most dynamic and fast paced industries with several players entering the market which will be opening more job avenues.” |

At this event all the industry speakers share their views and emphasis the importance of industry-academia interface. Mr. H K Ray, Dy. Director highlighted the various activities been initiated by retail department, he also shared that industry is also looking to Centre for Retail for providing trained manpower.
At the last Mr. Shashank Mehra, Programme Director PGDRM gave the vote of thanks.
