Chemical Lab - International Testing Center (ITC)

The Chemical Lab in FDDI International Testing Center is well equipped with all the modern instruments/techniques of chemical analysis and highly trained technical manpower that have undergone extensive training at SATRA (UK), PFI (Germany) and Bally (Switzerland).

  Test Range & Materials

  • Chemical Testing Services of materials such as leather, textiles, polymers, and solvents.
  • Competencies and potential to diversify in areas such as pesticide analysis, perfumes, fragrances etc as well.
  • Testing of banned materials such as AZO dyes, Pentachlophenol, Formaldehyde, Chromium - 6, Heavy Metals in Leather / Textile and Dispersed dyes in Fabric.

  Our Accreditations

The laboratory has been awarded quite a few accreditations and approvals. The following accreditations underline our commitment for maintaining the highest quality international standards.

  • ISO 9001 & ISO 14001
  • ISO 17025 (PFI, Germany)
  • APPROVED BY DGS&D
  • APPROVED BY GENERAL MOTORS
  • APPROVED BY RITES
  • APPROVED BY BIS

The Chemical Lab has a long-term technical collaboration with PFI (Germany)

Instruments

  • CE (Capillary Electrophoresis)
This is used as a quick and effective technique for separation of amines based on their mobility along the column.

  • UV-Visible Spectrophotometer
This is used for the analysis of compounds having double-triple bonds and functional groups such as OH, COOH, COCH3 etc that absorb radiation in the range of 100-700nm.

  • HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography)
This is a very versatile analytical tool used for the determination of amines and formaldehyde (HCHO).

  • HPTLC (High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography)
A quick high throughput technique used for the identification of pesticides and other toxic analytes.

  • LC-MS (Liquid Chromatography coupled with Mass Selective Detector)
This uses the same principle of an HPLC for separation and is employed for validating the analysis of amines and other toxic compounds.

  • GC-MS (Gas Chromatography coupled with Mass Selective Detector)
Another versatile analytical technique used for the separation and identification of perfumes, fragrances and other organic volatile compounds by employing TDS (Thermodesorption System) and Head Space sampling devices.

  • GC-ECD (Gas Chromatography coupled with Electron Capture Detector)
The ECD is selective towards compounds with electronegative groups such as chlorinated phenols and biphenyls.

  • FTIR (Fourier Transform Infra Red Spectroscopy)
This is used as a quick analytical tool for identification of chemicals, powders and solvents. The special ATR device is widely used for the identification of plastics.

  • ICAP (Inductively Coupled Argon Plasma Emission Spectroscopy)
This is widely used for the detection of heavy metals such as cobalt, nickel etc in amounts of the order of ppm/ppb.
