‘Educational Visit’ for FDDI, Noida students at NITRA, Ghaziabad

For enhancing the skills & knowledge of its students, Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) is trying its level best and leaving no stone unturned.

In this regard, on 3rd September, 2022, the School of Fashion Design, FDDI Noida campus organized an ‘Educational Visit’ to Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA) which is located at Raj Nagar, Ghaziabad.

NITRA is one of the prime textile research institutes in the country set-up jointly by Govt. of India and textile industry in 1974. It is the only ISO 9001:2015 accredited premier textile research association in the country. NITRA houses pilot scale spinning, weaving, knitting and chemical processing workshops for development of different types of yarns and fabrics. It also has pre-sewing, sewing, embroidery and finishing workshops for garment production.

The visit to NITRA was organized with an objective to provide first-hand information to the students regarding the functioning of the textile industry which enabled them to integrate theory with practice. It also familiarized the students with the technologies and machinery used in the textile industry for processing of raw fiber convert into textile material.

Accompanied by highly experienced faculty of FDDI namely, Dr. Sushila Hooda and Mr. Saurabh Srivastava, Jr. Faculty, the students were taken around the various departments: Spinning, Weaving, testing labs, Chemical lab etc. Students saw complete range of machinery starting from winding, warping, sizing and looms, students got an opportunity to see the functioning of complete range of machinery and the various physical and chemical tests for the quality check.

The visit ended with open house discussion where the experts of NITRA cleared their various doubts of the students.
