International Webinar on 'Pantone Color of the Year 2022' by Pantone Color Institute™. was held in cooperation with Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), Hyderabad campus on 10th December 2021.

For 22 years, Pantone Color of the Year has influenced product development and purchasing decisions in multiple industries, including fashion, home furnishings, and industrial design, as well as product, packaging and graphic design.

Ms. Leatrice Eiseman was the key speaker of Pantone Color of the Year, who is currently working as Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute™ USA and is recognized by the Fortune Magazine and the Wall Street Journal as one of the most influential people in the world of color. She has helped many companies to make the best and most educated choice of color for product development, brand imaging, interior/exterior design or any other application where color choice is critical to the success of the product or environment. She is author of 10 books on color and is widely quoted and referred to as the “International Color Guru”.

During the webinar, Ms. Leatrice explained about “Extended color and design trends: How past and present trends are shaping the future” and the slightly different approach in forecast due to the challenging times and events of the past 2 years.

She gave a detailed explanation on new brand Color of the year 2022 in Pantone which is the dynamic periwinkle blue hue with a vivifying violet red undertone, named as Pantone® 17-3938 Very Peri which blends the faithfulness constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red.

Ms. Leatrice briefed on various colour stories of 2022 – including the 4 extension palettes of “Composed”, “Terra Cotta”, “Folkloric” and “Vivify” from 2021 forecast. Plus the 8 additional lifestyle themes of “Clarify”, “Road Trip”, “Repunk’d”, “Bucolic”, Origins”, “Narratives”, “Wildwood” and “Scultpted” in Pantone View home + interiors 2022.

There was an interactive Q&A session during which Ms. Leatrice briefed about the methods of color forecasting followed by her, symbolism of the color, strategy involved in Pantone color forecasting, color research, and so on.

The international webinar was attended by more than 200 participants including students, faculty members, staff members across 12 campuses of FDDI and from other institutions and design studios, such as Raymond Group, Walkaroo International Pvt. Ltd., etc.
