‘Training Workshop on Leather Goods Making’ established by FDDI at Deoli village, Jammu achieves its objective


With the successful completion of the training workshop conducted at the training center for Leather Goods making established by Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) at Deoli village in Jammu district, 50 female trainees have achieved the desired objective.

The trainees who underwent the training workshop which started from 10th September 2021 have acquired the requisite skills and are self-reliant able of generating new product ideas using fusion of traditional crafts and leather.

They acquired knowledge of sequence of operation and are technically equipped & capable to make day to day products like Ladies Belt, File Folder, Photo frame, Table Mat, Table Lamp Stand, Jutti incorporating leather along with textile products like Jhola Bag, Shopping Bag, Laptop Bag using tweed fabric incorporating embroidery, which demonstrates the legacy of Jammu & Kashmir.

The training workshop was successfully completed on 11th October 2021. On completion of the training workshop, a jury session was organized in the presence of Sarpanch of Deoli, Jammu, Mr. Yoginder Singh, along with Ex-Sarpanch, Deoli, Jammu, Mr. Mulakh Raj, Panch, Ward No. 1, Mr. Amir Singh & Ex- Panch, Mr. Dharshan Lal.

The jury members met with all the trainees and inspected the displayed products made by them. They appreciated/praised all the trainees for the products made by them. Lastly, the programme ended with a distribution ceremony of certificates.

All the jury members thanked FDDI for organizing the training workshop on Leather Goods making and requested FDDI to start more training workshops in Jammu & Kashmir.

The trainees are capable to catering to the needs of leather and footwear industry and contribute significantly to fulfil the goals of Hon’ble Prime Minister’s ‘Vocal for Local’, ‘Make in India’ & ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’.
