On 19th May 2022, Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), Kolkata campus organized an award distribution ceremony for the winners of the ‘Sketching Competition’ at Eastern Journal Cultural Centre (EZCC), Saltlake, Kolkata.
The ‘Sketching Competition’ was organized by Ajanta Shoes India Pvt. Ltd. from 20th December 2021 to 20th January 2022. It was instituted to bring out the creativity of the students pursuing footwear programmes through FDDI School of Footwear Design & Production (FSFDP) across all the campuses of FDDI to encourage and promote the sketching capabilities.
Ajanta Shoes is a 65-year-old footwear giant, commanding unshaken trust in the industry. The company has around 1000 dealers and sub-dealers all over India, and 20,000 retailers pan-India. The company has three state-of-the-art production units around Kolkata namely at Boralighat I, Boralighat II, and Jangalpur where it manufactures shoes using best-in-class technology. Today it has 120 company-owned showrooms spread over Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Northeast, and Odisha.
During the ‘Sketching Competition’, under the Men’s, Women’s or Kid’s category which further had sub-category – Sandals, Slippers or Sports shoes, design were to be made based on current Indian trends, supported by market research & analysis.
The winners were adjudged on the basis of innovative design which supports sustainability, having bio-degradable and eco-friendly materials.
Mr. Sagnik Banik, Managing Director (MD), Mr. J.C Chatterjee, Director, Mr. Manish Sharma, P.D. - Head & Mr. Bibek Banerjee, General Manager-HR, IR & Admin from Ajanta Shoes were present to grace the occasion and to present the award to the winners.
