Webinar on ‘Zero Waste and Upcycling’ held at FDDI, NOIDA campus
A webinar on the topic ‘Zero Waste and Upcycling’ was held on 28th July 2021 at Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), NOIDA campus.
Ms. Swati Soharia, a graduate of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), New Delhi was the resource person of the webinar.
Her staunch belief in frugal design and innovation led her to experiment early on with various materials and forms. After being exposed to the wasteful nature and exploitative practices of modern garment retail and visual merchandising industries, she worked towards raising awareness about the dangers of fast fashion and promotes more responsible consumer behavior in fashion retail.
Launched in 2017, Swati Soharia Studio, the label is a natural outcome of her love for fashion and passion for sustainable living.
During the presentation, Ms. Swati also gave few essential tips on turning scraps discarded from factories into new unique products by carefully planning.
Leveraging digital technology for wider outreach, the webinar provided insight and practical advice to up-cycle waste fabric into handcrafted, one-of-a-kind accessories and how to follow a strict zero-waste policy.
The webinar was attended by students and faculties from different centres of FDDI.
