Smt. Anupriya Patel, Hon’ble MoS, C&I, GoI graces the ‘Convocation ceremony’ at FDDI, NOIDA campus; inaugurates the ‘Digital Classroom’

Amid maintaining precautionary measures of COVID-19 pandemic, Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), NOIDA held its Convocation ceremony for the passing out students of the Session 2020 & 2021 on 27th December 2021.

The event was graced by Smt. Anupriya Patel, Hon’ble Minister of State (MoS), Commerce and Industry (C&I), Government of India (GoI) as the Chief Guest, whereas the other distinguished guests of the event who graced the occasion were Mr. Motilal Sethi, Managing Director, M/s. Saroj International, President – Indian Leather Garments Association (ILGA) and Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Director, M/s. Sandeep Rubber, President - Indian Footwear Components Manufacturers Association (IFCOMA).

On behalf of FDDI, Mr. Arun Kumar Sinha, IAS, Managing Director (MD), FDDI welcomed the Chief Guest and all the other delegates including person from the print and electronic media during which the staff & students were also present.

Smt. Anupriya Patel, Hon’ble MoS – C&I, GoI also inaugurated the newly setup ‘Digital Classroom’ facility which has been replicated to all other eleven campuses of FDDI.

Briefing the media on this occasion, the Hon’ble MoS – C&I, GoI said “The ‘Digital Classroom’ initiative will certainly enable students of various campuses across the country to enhance the knowledge & skills and will provide an opportunity to streamline the academic structure.”

The students of FDDI School of Footwear Design & Production (FSFDP), FDDI School of Fashion Design (FSFD), FDDI School of Leather Goods & Accessories Design (FSLGAD), and FDDI School of Retail and Fashion Merchandise (FSRFM) displayed their works in the form of presentations. They had put up stalls where a display of footwear, leather art crafts and a model of retail outlet was done.

The Convocation ceremony began with the lighting-up of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest alongwith other dignitaries. The invocation ‘Saraswati Vandana’ was recited in the presence of the audience.

Mr. Arun Kumar Sinha, IAS, MD, FDDI in his ‘Welcome Address’ said “With great pleasure, I congratulate you all on this memorable day of your life. An exciting future awaits you, even though the world has been quite dramatically transformed between the time you came to FDDI, and today”.

Marking the successful completion of their respective professional programme, a total of 323 students belonging to the Session 2020 & 2021were awarded their Degrees, out of which 171 attended the historic ceremony held at the institute premises.

Smt. Anupriya Patel, Hon’ble MoS – C&I, GoI in her ‘Keynote Address’ said “It is your hard work, devotion to quality, dedication of faculty & staff and vision of the management that are responsible for this notable achievement.”

Extending her best wishes to all passing-out students, Hon’ble MoS – C&I, GoI said “I call upon all the FDDI’ans to become job creators and achieve the goal of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s 'Make in India' and give your valuable contribution to make our motherland a ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ in true sense.”

The Hon’ble MoS – C&I, GoI further said “It gives me great pleasure to acknowledge the dynamic leadership of the Governing Council, Senate and Managing Director of FDDI.”

The Valedictorians were called on the stage first, where they received their medals at the hands of the Chief Guest, proof of their undying, ever present effort towards achievement of excellence in their respective programmes.

Mr. Motilal Sethi, Managing Director, M/s. Saroj International, President –ILGA extended the 'Vote of Thanks' and said “I am very grateful to the Chief Guest for giving her valuable time and gracing the ‘Convocation ceremony’ for the passing out students of the Session 2020 & 2021 and inaugurating the Digital Classroom”.
