‘Chintan Shivir’ held at FDDI

On 15th May 2023, a ‘Chintan Shivir’ was organized by FDDI to assess its growth and to find the way ahead to meet the requirement of growth of footwear, fashion, leather products, and retail & fashion merchandise in the coming years.

It was held at FDDI, Noida campus at the Digital Classroom and the participation of all the other campuses were virtually in attendance at the Digital Classroom of Noida campus.

The ‘Chintan Shivir’ was held to find out the significant role of FDDI in fulfilling the goals of Hon’ble Prime Minister’s ‘Vocal for Local’, ‘Make in India’, ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, ‘Skill India’, and ‘Start-up India’ Programmes and thus, achieving the ambitious target of USD 47 Billion by 2030 by the Leather and Footwear industry of India.

For fulfilling the skilling requirement in leather & footwear industry of India, during the ‘Chintan Shivir’, the participants deliberated on four quadrants namely, Teaching, Admissions, Placements and Student’s Experience.

Under the Teaching quadrant, Pedagogy, Workshops, Seminars, Syllabus, Faculty Training Development and Short Term courses were discussed in detail. Under the Admissions quadrant, Promotion Strategy, Admissions focus points, New Interventions.

Deliberations on Placement quadrant included, Expansion of Industries reach, Personality Development of Students, Quality of Jobs VS mapping of students’ Competencies / Skills / Domain expertise where as deliberations on Student’s Experience quadrant included, Facilities, Extra-curricular & Co-Curricular Activities Faculty / Industry Visits, Internships, Incubation Centres: Start-up / Entrepreneurship Development Centres and Participation in Cluster Development.

The outcome of the ‘Chintan Shivir’ was that, it is imperative for FDDI to focus on enhancing the skills of individuals and providing them with the necessary knowledge and expertise to excel in the relevant industry.
