Secretary, DPIIT, Government of India visits FDDI, Noida campus

Mr. Anurag Jain, IAS, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India visited Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), Noida campus on 25th March 2023.

On this occasion, Mr. Arun Kumar Sinha, IAS, Managing Director (MD), FDDI and the staff of the institute welcomed him.

He visited the International Testing Center (ITC) of FDDI having Physical & Chemical Laboratory and saw various testing-cum-quality control services being provided by it.

The ITC provides services such as testing for leather, plastics, rubbers, textiles, footwear, artificial limbs, sports goods & tests for harmful substances and is accredited by SATRA, United Kingdom & Bureau of Indian Standards.

He saw the newly setup ‘Digital Classroom’ facility that enable students of various campuses across the country to enhance the knowledge & skills and provides an opportunity to streamline the academic structure at all other eleven campuses of FDDI.

He interacted with the Executive Director & employees of FDDI, Banur campus using the ‘Digital Classroom’ facility.

During his one hour stay, Secretary, DPIIT saw the Product Development Center (PDC) wherein he was informed about the R&D work being carried out in children shoes and shoes being developed with palm leaves.

Secretary, DPIIT also visited the newly established labs which are equipped with new advanced machines for improving testing and inspection in a transparent manner so that the Industry gets benefitted through the services of its ITC.

The students from School of Fashion Design and School of Leather Goods & Accessories Design displayed their works in the form of presentations. They had put up stalls where a display of apparel designs, product designs and sketches etc. were made.

The Secretary, DPIIT interacted with the members of the faculty & staff.

He gave valuable suggestions for making patent of the research work carried out, improvement in standards of teaching, research and collaboration programmes of the institute across all the campuses.
