Honourable Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Som Prakash lays foundation stone of ‘Girls Hostel’ of FDDI, Banur campus

Hon’ble Minister of State (MoS), Commerce and Industry (C&I), Government of India (GoI), Mr. Som Parkash laid the foundation stone of the ‘Girls Hostel’ of FDDI, Banur campus on 11th September 2023.

On this occasion, Mr. Arun Kumar Sinha, IAS, Managing Director (MD), FDDI, Ms. Pragya Singh, IRS, Executive Director (ED), FDDI, Banur campus, Mr. Abhishek Narang, IRS, PS to MoS, industrialists, academicians, staff & students, and media persons were present.

Mr. Arun Kumar Sinha, IAS, MD, FDDI in his 'Welcome Speech' said, “The ‘Girls Hostel’ funded through DPIIT, Government of India has been planned with best possible design which will help in the promotion of girls’ education and to eliminate gender disparity. It will also play a transformative role in fulfilling the goals of Hon’ble Prime Minister’s ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ Programme.”

In his ‘Keynote Address’, the Hon’ble MoS, C&I, GoI, Mr. Som Parkash appreciated the efforts of FDDI in imparting professional education in the fields of footwear design, fashion design, leather and lifestyle product design, and retail and fashion merchandise.

He appreciated the exhibition of shoes, handbags, etc. designed by the students and also interacted with the industrialists of the footwear and leather industries.


Delivering the ‘Vote of Thanks’, Ms. Pragya Singh, IRS, ED, FDDI, Banur campus said, “The valuable time given by Hon’ble Minister of State from his extremely busy schedule to lay the foundation stone of the ‘Girls Hostel’, on the first request of FDDI, ensures that it becomes a premier institute of the country in the educational landscape.”

The hostel with the capacity to accommodate 250 girl’s student will be a boon for the girl’s students as the hostel rooms will be located within a walking distance of the teaching departments & laboratories. Thus, the students will be in the position concentrate more upon their studies.
