FDDI, Banur Organizes Workshops on Advanced Draping & Origami Design Techniques

The School of Fashion Design, FDDI, Banur Campus successfully hosted two creative workshops led by eminent fashion designer Ms. Ritu Singh, offering students a unique opportunity to enhance their technical and artistic skills.

From 18th to 22nd August 2025, a five-day workshop on “Advanced Draping Techniques” introduced students to creative and sculptural draping, multifunctional and convertible designs, theme-based approaches, and advanced silhouette construction. The sessions combined conceptual learning with practical training in corset and ball gown draping, lingerie construction, DIY draping, and multifunctional garments. Students worked with fabrics such as mesh, leather, satin, crepe, and georgette, gaining hands-on expertise in fabric handling, material experimentation, and innovative drape development.

On 23rd August 2025, newly joined foundation students explored the art of origami as a design tool in another workshop conducted by Ms. Singh. The interactive session encouraged participants to experiment with diverse origami folds and forms, applying them to fabric manipulation and garment prototyping. This hands-on experience demonstrated how origami principles can inspire product development, blending creativity, precision, and innovation.

Together, these workshops not only enriched students’ technical knowledge but also nurtured their originality and design vision, marking an inspiring start to the academic year.
