On 22nd August 2025, FDDI Kolkata participated in the East India Design Conclave 2025, hosted by the International School of Design (INSD) Kolkata, under the theme “Designing the Future – Sustainability in Design.” The event brought together students, educators, and industry leaders for a day of dialogue, recognition, and collaboration under the banner “Where India Designs the Future.”
The conclave featured two engaging panel discussions. The first, “The Future of Design,” included Kamal Periwal (Director, Maheshwari & Associates), Pranav Raaj Aggarwal (CEO, INSD Group), Ankit Kumar Patnaik (Executive Graphic Designer, Lux Industries), Karuna Chandirani (Fashion & Lifestyle Influencer, Educator & Mentor), and Swaguna Mukherjee (Secretary, Meghdutam Foundation & Advocate of Slow Fashion).
The second panel, “Sustainability in Design,” saw active participation from Udit Mittal (Principal Architect & Co-founder, QX Design), Kriti Jalan (Founder, Kriti Jalan Design Studio), Mrs. Anita Ray (HoD, Fashion Design, FDDI Kolkata), Mr. Prashant Nanda (HoD, Footwear Design, FDDI Kolkata), and Ajay Mittal (Sustainability Consultant, ESG & Carbon Market Specialist).
The conclave underscored the need for sustainable materials, circular design principles, and green innovation, while strengthening academia–industry collaboration and student engagement. The key message was clear: sustainability is not optional but essential, and collective efforts will shape a responsible and innovative future for design.
