As part of the Fabulous Friday knowledge-sharing initiative, the School of Footwear Design & Production at FDDI, Hyderabad Campus organized a workshop on “Innovations in Footwear Aesthetics, Finishing, and Packaging Techniques” on 29th August 2025.
The session was led by Mr. S. Afroze Basha, Country Manager-India, Rei do Brasil, along with Mr. Siddique, Footwear Finishing Specialist, who shared valuable insights on upper leather materials, identification methods, properties, and applications in footwear design.
A live demonstration showcased the transformation of crust leather into finished shoes through sanding, burnishing, dyeing, waxing, lacquering, buffing, and spray finishing. Students also participated hands-on, experimenting with color layering and texture enhancement under expert guidance.
The workshop effectively bridged classroom learning with industry practices, giving students practical exposure to the latest finishing techniques and packaging standards.
