A two days grand fest ‘Abhikalpana 2019’ was organized at Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), Fursatganj campus from 06th to 07th March 2019.
The students of leading national colleges and institutions from Rae Bareli district such as Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Firoz Gandhi Institute of Engineering Technology (FGIET), Polytechnic College participated in about 25 categories of sports, cultural, literature and craft competitions held during the fest.
The sponsorship and partners for ‘Abhikalpana 2019’ was done by Lakme Saloon, Rae Bareli for Makeup and Styling, M/s. Global Exports, Kanpur for awards to winners, runner-ups and East and West Tanners, Kanpur for ‘Fashion Show’ setup.
The students from various campuses of FDDI namely Patna, Hyderabad, Chennai, Rohtak, and Chandigarh also made their presence during ‘Abhikalpana 2019’.
A ‘Fashion Show’, ‘Khadiutsava’ based on khadi (Indo-Western Design) theme was inaugurated by lighting up of the lamp, followed by Saraswati Vandana. On this occasion, Mr. Vikas Verma, IRSME, Executive Director (ED), FDDI, Dr. Ram Manohar Mishra, District Magistrate, Amethi, Mr. Rajesh Singj, Deputy Commandant, CRPF, Mr. Vinayak Ranjan, Assistant Commandant, CRPF, Mr. H.K Pandey, AGM, Airport Authority of India, Mr. Lokendra, Chief Engineer, Modern Rail Coach Unit, Lalganj, Mr. Raj Kumar, CO Tiloi, SSP Amethi District, SP Amethi District and Directors & Principals of various schools and colleges of Rae Bareli, Amethi were present.
During the show, the students of the Institute got an opportunity to showcase their printed in-house khadi collection, leather and khadi mix collection designed and presented by the FDDI students as models.
Audience was mesmerized by the grace and beauty of the entire show. The event was a huge success as it was well appreciated in the form of thunderous applause after the show.
Appreciating the ‘Fashion Show’, Dr. Ram Manohar Mishra, District Magistrate, Amethi, in his address said that “FDDI has initiated tremendous effort for promoting khadi as a fashion trend in today’s modern era.”
Delivering the ‘Vote of Thanks’, Mr. Vikas Verma, IRSME, ED, FDDI said that the ‘Fashion Show’, ‘Khadiutsava’ is a tribute to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi which will be celebrated this year across the world.
During the prize distribution ceremony all the dignitaries and a large number of media persons were present.
The students showed their splendid effort to excel in the competitions held during the fest. The best of the talents in the region enthral the audience by their performance during the fest.
