FDDI - Co-sponsor of Delhi Times Fashion Week

Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) was one of the Co-sponsors of the recently concluded Delhi Times Fashion Week (DTFW) which was held from January 20 to January 22, 2018 at Roseate House Asset 10, Hospitality District, Aerocity, New Delhi.

FDDI was Footwear and Leather Industry partner for DTFW during which the students of the Institute got an opportunity to showcase their creations crafted during the course in a dedicated 20 minutes slot.

The event was graced by the valuable presence of Mr. Darlie Koshy, DG ATDC, Mr. Arun Kumar Sinha, IAS – Managing Director, FDDI, Mr. Vivek Sharma, IRS – Secretary, FDDI, Mr. Adarsh Kumar, AFHQ CS – Executive Director, FDDI.  

Thirty nine students of FDDI walked the ramp and showcased five collections on the day three of DTFW. The show brought a collection of bright, thoughtful and attractive collection on the runway. The show began with some concept designs exploring different geometrical shapes and first few garments were all in shimmering silver. Then came some colour on the ramp. Suede and leather skirts and pants, muted embroidery and fabrics that were created to give structure and strong silhouette to designs were part of the collection.

The dresses and accessory designing were all done by the students of FDDI and all the models were also the students of FDDI itself.

Students said that months of hard work went into creation of garments and each had rehearsed well before their final appearance on the ramp. 

Ms. Shraddha Shashidhar, Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva Universe 2017 was showstopper of the event. The dress designed by FDDI students became all the more enviable, once donned by Ms. Shraddha. 

Audience was mesmerized by the grace and beauty of the entire show. The event was a huge success as it was well appreciated in the form of thunderous applause after the show. 

The collaboration of DTFW and FDDI is built on the common objective of helping budding designers take their creations to new heights and at the same time keeping it marketable in terms of industry standards.

FDDI for more than three decades has contributed towards academic and industrial growth in the fields of Footwear and Leather Products Design. While pursuing various courses at FDDI, students not only give shape and colour to their imaginations, but also contribute significantly towards the achievement of government’s initiatives such as ‘Skill India’, ‘Start-up India’ and ‘Make in India’.
