Swachhata Diwas’ held at FDDI campuses

On 2nd October 2019, ‘Swachhata Diwas’  was held at all the campuses of Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) located at Noida, Fursatganj, Chennai, Kolkata, Rohtak, Chhindwara, Guna, Jodhpur, Ankleshwar, Banur, Patna and Hyderabad.

On this occasion, cleanliness drive was carried out at all the campuses in the vicinity of the campuses to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatama Gandhi, and the birth anniversary of the second Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Paying homage to both at FDDI Noida campus, Mr. Arun Kumar Sinha, IAS, Managing Director, FDDI emphasized on the importance of cleanliness & hygiene and said, “2nd October holds immense historical significance for the entire country as it marks the birth anniversaries of two Independence-era stalwarts, Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri who never deviated from their ideals and principles.”

Mr. Sinha further said, The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi had launched the ambitious Clean India Programme, popularly known as ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ on 2nd October 2014. With the aim of creating a clean India, it is necessary to bring change in our behaviour and mindset as this activity is not one time but, a continuous exercise.”

He emphasized on the importance of cleanliness in our daily life and also urged everyone to end usage of single use plastic and keep the campus and surrounding clean

The staff and students the campuses of FDDI took solemn pledge that they will clean their locality and would make people aware of the cleanliness drive.

Apart from other activities, the students at FDDI Kolkata campus designed a Charka as a mark of their respect to Mahatma Gandhi.

The staff and students at all the campuses of the FDDI actively participated in the cleanliness drive under which extensive cleaning of toilets, mess, kitchen, classrooms, fans, windows, bushes, garden areas, staff quarter areas, hostels  and surrounding areas were carried out.


All the staff and students were very happy to contribute to this good cause which was very thought provoking and insightful as it reinstated the importance of a clean environment and motivated all to take necessary steps on an everyday basis to move towards a cleaner and greener tomorrow for the betterment of society, country and the planet.
