Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), Kolkata participated in Indian Leather Accessories Fair (ILAF) 2019 which was held on the 27th & 28th September 2019 at hotel ITC Royal Bengal.
The fair which was organized by India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) was inaugurated by Dr. Amit Mitra, Minister for Commerce and Industry, Govt. of West Bengal in the august presence of Executive Director, ITPO, President Indian Leather Producers Association (ILPA), Chairman, Council for Leather Exports (CLE), Mr. Mukhtarul Amin committee head for ILAF and Mr. Ramesh Juneja, Regional Chairman, CLE.
During the fair, FDDI School of Leather Goods and Accessories Design (FSLGAD) of Kolkata set a stall which was decorated with both contemporary and traditional design ideas & products. The focus was on reviving the traditional designs of Shantiniketan batik and embossing bags.
Apart from the buyers, from 16 countries all over the world, the owners and officials of various export houses and the leather industry as a whole applauded the works of the students of FDDI showcased in the stall
The fair was a good platform for the students and faculties to study latest trends in terms of leather, colour, patterns, silhouettes, accessories and latest technologies.
Besides ILAF, ILPA organized fashion show ‘Leather on the Ramp’ during the fair on 27th of September at Hyatt Regency, Kolkata during which 34 bags from the students' craft cluster collection and Design project collection were exhibited. The students walked on the ramp with these collections. This is the third year, when the brand KOMPANERO sponsored FSLGAD Kolkata in the show.
Audience was mesmerized by the grace and beauty of the entire show. The event was a huge success as it was well appreciated in the form of thunderous applause after the show.
