The run started at 10 A.M. from Ekdalia, a major location in the city of Kolkata and covered a distance of almost 6 kilometers through the heart of the city to complete the journey at Netaji Research Bureau, erstwhile residence and ancestral house of the national leader, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

Subhas Chandra Bose, popularly known as Netaji, was one of India's most prominent nationalist leaders who tried to wrest India's freedom from the British rule. The ideals of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and his contributions in the fight for freedom is an unparalleled example of sacrifice and love for the motherland. His bravery, courage and patriotism had inspired generations.

In the Marathon run, students and staff members of FDDI Kolkata were joined by an enthusiastic group from Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kolkata chapter. Students of FDDI Kolkata covered the distance with colourful posters, flex & banners depicting the need for pollution control and the dream of a ‘Greener India’. The participation of around 200 students and employees of FDDI Kolkata created a buzz amongst all who witnessed the run through the city of joy.

At the end of the Marathon, all students and staff members paid their homage with floral tributes & Tri colour garland to the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
