A week long workshop on ‘Research Methodology & Data Analysis-(RMDA-2018)’ was organized from 22nd to 28th February 2018 at the Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), Jodhpur.
Keeping the importance of the ‘Research’ in mind which plays a vital role & is an integral part of academics, the School of Retail Management, FDDI, Jodhpur conducted the workshop on Research Methodology & Data Analysis.
The retail sector is globally emerging as one of the largest sectors in the economy. India’s strong growth fundamentals, along with increased urbanisation and consumerism, offer immense scope for retail expansion for Indian as well the foreign players. Thus, ‘Research Methodology & Data Analysis’ become vital tool in discovering useful information, suggesting conclusions, and supporting decision-making for an organization.
The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Ashok Kumar Choudhary, IRSS, Executive Director, FDDI, Jodhpur, Dr. Neeraj Kaushik, Associate Professor, NIT, Kurukshetra in the august presence of faculty and staff of FDDI, Jodhpur.
Forty-two participants attended the workshop from all over India & Nepal who were associated with Banaras Hindu University- Varanasi, Sri Aurobindo College – Ludhiana, Symbiosis International University – Pune, Govt. College, Gurdaspur - Punjab, Dr. Ghanshyam College - Varanasi, College of Commerce & Business Management Studies – Nagpur, Aligarh Muslim University – Aligarh, Punjabi University – Patiala, Punjab University – Chandigarh, Education Department- Chandigarh University, Footwear Design & Development Institute – Fursatganj and Chhindwara, Apex College (Pukhara University) – Nepal, Tribhuvan University – Nepal.
During the workshop, the eminent speakers namely Dr. Neeraj Kaushik, Associate Professor, NIT, Kurukshetra, Dr. Archna Bohra Gupta, Associate Professor, MBM Engineering College, Jodhpur, Dr. Umesh Arya, Professor at Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology,Hisar, Prof. C.V.R. Murty, Director, Indian Institute of Technology, Jodhpur cited the importance of ‘Research Methodology & Data Analysis’ in retail sector, commerce & industry aspect and discussed its relevance and the growing need in academia. They explained its processes and arising benefits for a retailer to have a strong distribution and logistic network to maximize sales and succeed in this sector.
The workshop provided a comprehensive understanding of ‘Research Methodology & Data Analysis’ which has placed itself on a pedestal in the context of retail sector & economic growth and is becoming increasingly important.
The workshop was attended by all HoDs, faculties & the students of the Institute. There was an interactive session during which students and the faculties cleared their doubts related to the topic.
In essence, the workshop was instrumental in aiding the staffs to develop new skills that will contribute to their academic success.
