‘Hindi Pakhwara’ held at FDDI campuses

Hindi Pakhwara’  was held at all the campuses of Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) located at Noida, Fursatganj, Chennai, Kolkata, Rohtak, Chhindwara, Guna, Jodhpur, Ankleshwar, Banur, Patna and Hyderabad from 14-28, September, 2018.                           

Circular regarding ‘Hindi Pakhwara’ celebrations was circulated to all campuses of FDDI on 12th September 2018.

In order to promote the knowledge and skills in use of official language – Hindi among the faculty, staff and the students in consonance with the policy of Government of India, various competitions were organized during the ‘Hindi Pakhwara’.

During the ‘Hindi Pakhwara’, five competitions were held out of which three were for the staff and two for the student community of FDDI that witnessed the oratory, logical skills and the literary acumen of the faculty, staff and students in Hindi.

It was on September 14, 1949 when the Constitution makers of the country decided to accord the status of Official Language of the Union to Hindi. To commemorate the historic occasion, Hindi Diwas is observed every year this day.

Besides this, under the Department of Official Language Incentive Scheme, cash prizes and certificates were given to the Teaching as well to the Non-Teaching departments for the maximum percentage of work done by the department in Hindi during the last year.

During all the competitions, a large number of both teaching and non-teaching staffs as well as students of FDDI participated enthusiastically at all the campuses.

Eminent personalities from the field of Hindi graced the prize distribution ceremony at the respective campus of FDDI during which cultural programmes were also organized. 

During the prize distribution ceremony at the Noida campus, the winners were awarded  cash prizes as well as certificate by the Chief Guest, Dr. Puran Chand Tondon where Mr. Vivek Sharma, IRS, Secretary, FDDI was present.

Dr. Tondon who is working in the Faculty of Arts, University of Delhi is M. Phil & Ph.D. from Delhi University and D. Litt. from Lucknow University has been associated with many Universities, academic institutions. He has published many articles in journals-like-Anuvaad, Sahitya Amrit Bhasha etc.


At the FDDI, Patna campus, during the prize distribution ceremony, Mr. Chandan Dubey from the Hindi newspaper Hindustan group graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

During the prize distribution ceremony at the FDDI, Hyderabad campus, Mr. R. S. Thakur from Kendriya Vidyalaya graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

At the FDDI, Guna campus, during the prize distribution ceremony, Mr. Satish Chaturvedi, HoD - Department of Hindi, Government Kasturba College, Guna and Mr. Harishankar Regar, Principal, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

During the prize distribution ceremony at the respective campus of FDDI, the Chief Guest in their address shared their views on the importance and status of Hindi language with the audience.  

FDDI is determined to motivate the staff to use Hindi increasingly for official purposes and similarly for the students to use Hindi in their day-to-day works.
