FDDI participates in the ‘Meet at Agra 2018’

Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) participated in the ‘Meet at Agra 2018’– a Leather, Footwear Components & Technology Fair which was organized from 26th to 28th October 2018.

The fair was organized by the Agra Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Chamber (AFMEC) at Agra Trade Centre, Singhna Village, NH-2, Agra.

Leather, footwear components, chemicals & adhesives, technology and machinery were the products displayed in the fair.

During the fair, a panel discussion on ‘Environment and Industry Sustainability – Is Industry a Curse for Environment?’ was also held in which the doyens of the industry shared the dais and expressed their views as eminent panelist.

On this occasion, the activities undertaken by FDDI were briefed to the participants through a presentation given by Ms. Deepti Srivastava, Manager (Corporate Service).

Besides this, a presentation on the Integrated Development of Leather Sector (IDLS) Sub-Scheme of the Indian Footwear, Leather and Accessories Development Programme (IFLADP) of the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP), Government of India was given by Mr. Aritra Das, Project Coordinator, IDLS.

The students of FDDI displayed a wide range of creations at its stall no. A -23 that included ladies and gents shoes, casual and formal footwear and sports shoes, fashion accessories, leather goods - travelware, belts, portfolios, handbags and wallets.

The information about FDDI’s laboratory services, various training programmes, consultancy services through brochure and one-to-one meeting and interaction with the companies was also carried out.

Exhibitors from India as well overseas including, France, Brazil, Hong Kong & China etc., attended the event. The fair offered good business opportunity and was successful in identifying the huge opportunities existing in Agra. The innumerable visitors present included footwear manufacturers, institutional buyers from across the globe, designers, technicians and government representatives.

The students of various campuses of FDDI also visited the fair where they had the opportunity to acquire knowledge regarding the trends & technological advancement taking place in the leather, footwear & allied industry.

In concurrence, on 26th October 2018, the students of FDDI, Rohtak, under the industrial visit went to M/s. Rupmaya Shoe Last Industries Pvt. Ltd., - a ‘Last’ manufacturing unit situated at center of Agra city.

Under the guidance of the faculty of FDDI, the visit of the students of FDDI was organized for acquiring a better understanding of the industrial process taking place in the ‘Last’ manufacturing unit.

The students were guided by the factory experts who highlighted the relevance of ‘Last’ in shoe making and they were also exposed to the entire manufacturing process of ‘Last’ manufacturing right from the raw material to the final product.

The students also got an opportunity to learn about the working atmosphere and various functional areas like manufacturing, quality control, supply chain logistics and other major operations of the company.
