Under the institutional exposure, the students of Foundation batch of the Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), Rohtak went to State University of Performing and Visual Arts (SUPVA).
SUPVA located at Rohtak has been established with the objective to facilitate and promote studies and research in emerging areas of higher education with focus on new frontiers of Design, Fine Arts, Urban Planning and Architecture and Film & Television and also to achieve excellence in these and connected fields.
Under the guidance of the faculty of the FDDI, a group of 46 students visited SUPVA on 23rd & 25th October 2018 with the objective of acquiring a better understanding of the modules – Elements & Principles of Designs, Drawing-1 and Material Study-1.
At SUPVA, the students saw the Pattern cutting labs, Textile making labs, Art workshop, Product Development lab and Screen printing workshops which will help them to execute their work in more creative and innovative manner.
During the visit, the students also saw an excellent documentary on handlooms focusing on the Indian traditional way of making yarns then a fabric and then making a textile by using designs and different textures.
The students acquired knowledge about the fabric development with looms, how to put their work in more innovative manner in terms of product development by using various elements of designs followed by principles of designs. Besides this, they were also familiarized with the technique on how to utilize the waste material and converting them into some attractive design element for the decoration, how to represent their work for the jury etc.
