FDDI participates in the National Rubber Conference 2018

Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) participated in the National Rubber Conference (NRC) which was held on 27th & 28th November 2018 at the Lalit Great Eastern, Kolkata.

FDDI participated as ‘Gold Partner’ in the event organized by All India Rubber Industries Association (AIRIA). Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur and University of Calcutta was knowledge partners for the event.

AIRIA is a not for profit making body serving the rubber industry and trade with the objectives of safeguarding and promoting interests of the industry.

The Chief Guest of the conference was Dr. Amit Mitra, Hon’ble Minister for Dept. of Finance and Industry, Commerce & Enterprises, Government of West Bengal.

The theme of the conference was ‘Technology Adoption and Market Expansion’ during which many eminent speakers from the industry, Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), academicians & research scholars   enriched the audience with their knowledge & multifarious experience through research paper presentation.

During the NRC, Mr. Aritra Das, Senior Consultant & HoD, School of Footwear Design & Production, Noida campus, in a presentation explained about the sub-schemes under Indian Footwear, Leather & Accessories Development Programme (IFLADP) that FDDI is implementing between the years 2017-20. He explained about the sub-schemes of IFLADP and requested the industry fraternity to take active part in its implementation.

NRC was a perfect forum to discuss the new innovations taking place globally in the field of Rubber /Non-Leather Footwear Technology & allied fields.

During the NRC, a technical research presentation on ‘The breakthrough innovations for the next level Quality in Footwear Technology’, was given by Dr. A. K. Mathur, Visiting Faculty – FDDI.

The technical presentation given by Dr. Mathur was well appreciated by all the technocrats & educationists from the angle of new innovations in the field of Rubber /Non-Leather Footwear Industry.

At the end of the session, panel discussions were held.  The audiences were all ears to listen to the experts valued inputs.

The overwhelming participation of around three hundred Sr. Technocrats from various Rubber & Footwear Industries, Entrepreneurs, Educationists mainly from IIT, Kharagpur & University of Calcutta as well a large number of IIT students gave a new impetus for paving a way for the technological preparedness to meet the future requirement of the rubber industry.
