FDDI Chennai Faculty Research Published in USA-Based International Journal


A research paper titled, ‘Traditional Bamboo Mat Weaving of North Godavari: Cultural Documentation and the Role of Media Promotion’ authored by Dr. Rambabu Muppidi, Senior Faculty–II, School of Fashion Design (FD), FDDI Chennai Campus, along with Dr. Yogesh Babu, former Assistant Professor, Nagarjuna University, has been published in the USA-based international journal Current Trends in Fashion Technology & Textile Engineering (CTFTTE) (ISSN: 2577-2929), California, in January 2026.

The study documents the artisan legacy of the Muppidi family of North Godavari, highlighting the cultural significance of traditional bamboo mat weaving. Rooted in local heritage, sustainable materials, and skilled handcraft techniques, these mats play an important role in both everyday life and ritual practices. The research also underscores the role of media promotion in preserving and revitalizing traditional crafts.This publication reflects FDDI’s continued commitment to research, cultural documentation, and the promotion of India’s rich craft traditions on global academic platforms.
